Week 33: September 21 - 27 (Pineapple)
This week is one I've been looking forward to for a very long time. Yes, work is still insane and I'm billing lots of hours = lots of $$$, but I can start to see the end in sight. This is the week of my long awaited baby shower! Heather and Mansha are hosting it at Heather's house and those two are the most creative, artistic and classiest people I know so I could only imagine what they had in store. Sharmi came into town which was so nice because we haven't seen each other since May. She loved the bump and just loved being here. It was a quick trip for her jam packed with lots of events, so I definitely missed her after seeing her for only 1 night. Physically I am so uncomfortable. I still have that weird pain on my left groin/pelvic region. I can't tell what's causing it. The doctor doesn't seem to concerned since its most likely the positioning of the baby. I finally found a dress to wear to my shower along with some heels and a hat - the shower is a tea party theme. The shower was gorgeous. I have the most amazing friends who spoiled me and the baby with tons of presents. We're now like 90% complete with everything we asked for and more. It really was one of the last few times where I got to celebrate me because soon enough all the focus will be on my little girl. Sunday we went to BRU to exchange a couple of things and we also got to go on our tour of Northside Hospital. The hospital is incredible and they have such great processes and rooms that it really takes the fear out of the uncertainty. I am really looking forward to a positive experience there. We also got to meet Adrienne on Sunday. She is our Doula and will be supporting me and my desire to birth naturally. She is wonderful and I'm really looking to her to guide me through my goals. We are just so excited with all the changes and how quickly time is going by. Even with the few physical discomforts (I really can't get up anymore!), its all so magical and loving. I did experience my first, real Braxton-Hicks contractions. We were cooking Sunday night and the pain I felt was strong, sharp pains in the front of my uterus. It really made me have to sit down and take notice and I still felt them after sitting down. I drank lots of water and relaxed. It was kinda scary, but I'm thankful they weren't the real thing because it's too early. In terms of work, I had my first interview at KO and that was pretty cool because if they can make this happen for me before I go out on Maternity, I'll definitely be hooked up without the extra responsibilities of being a Consultant Manager. We'll see how it all turns out. One things for sure, I won't miss those 7am meetings, like the one I had this week for work. I'll need that time in the morning once the little one arrives for feedings and just getting ready!
